Delta Phi Chapter Highlights

93rd Great Lakes Regional Conference 

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Phi Chapter attended the 93rd Great Lakes Regional Conference. The Chapter was awarded 1st place for the Eva L. Evans Graduate/Undergraduate Relations Award. 

Congratulations to Soror Tamya Edwards, Soror Joi Foy, and Soror Norah LeFlore for holding regional positions this year. 

Divine Tea Time 

The Delta Phi Chapter hosted their annual Divine Tea Time. This year the chapter focused on Breaking the Glass Ceiling in the work force. With the help of their keynote speaker and panelists, the chapter was able to learn how to thrive and break the glass ceiling. 

Southern Ohio Cluster 

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Phi Chapter attended the Southern Ohio Cluster Conference in November 2023. 

Delta Phi Soror Joi Foy serves as the Southern Ohio Undergraduate Cluster Coordinator. Congratulations to Soror Joi for her role in this year's cluster. 

Templeton Blackburn Scholarship Pageant 

The Delta Phi Chapter sponsored contestant, Josh Opoku, in the annual Templeton Blackburn Scholarship Pageant. The ladies of Delta Phi were awarded the Best Sponsor Award at the pageant along with their contestant winning 1st place for raising the most money.

We could not be more happy to continue our service to all mankind!

Black History Month

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Phi Chapter were fortunate enough to attend and be apart of the Andrew Jackson Davison Club’s 3rd Annual Black History Community Event at Athens Middle School.

Making a Global Impact with UNA-USA

The Delta Phi Chapter is ending this semester by participating in Sorority & Fraternity Life’s Annual Toy Drive to help an Athens Family in need for the holidays. ❄️ Our chapter purchased some items for a little girl Brooklyn this year !

Phamily Ties

The Delta Phi Chapter would like to thank everyone for coming out to our community service collaboration, Phamily Ties, with Phi Chapter 💓💛. With your help, we were able to create 7 full size blankets to donate to The Timothy House this winter !

A Sip of The Renaissance 

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Delta Phi Chapter would like to recap and thank you for attending Night School Skee Week. We hope you got a lot out of the programs and hope to skee you soon!

Perfect Harmony

On January 17, 2018, Delta Phi chapter invited music therapy majors to teach the community about different methods used to rehabilitate children and adults with physical or mental disabilities. The guest speakers used exercises that incorporated things like sound and rhythm to explore the many ways music therapists help people re-establish basic motor skills like hand and arm movement.

Divine Vision

On January 16, 2018, Delta Phi chapter celebrated it's 53rd charter day by inviting members of the Ohio University community to create vision boards. Students gathered to create vision boards from magazines donated by members of the chapter. They volunteered to share the meaning behind their creations with the group and were encouraged to use them as inspiration to reach their goals.

Mental Health: A Serious Matter

On November 2, 2017, Delta Phi chapter hosted “Metal Health Awareness: A Serious Matter”. Students walking through Ohio University’s student center were invited to discuss the importance of mental health and self-love. The Delta Phi chapter members offered students different tips and coping mechanisms for different types of emotional and mental health conditions.

In efforts to inform the campus of the ways we, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., make an impact globally we set up a table and informed our peers on campus about UNA-USA. This passive program allowed many of our members to engage in an intimate way with the members of our chapter while also signing up to become a member of GenUn-USA. This membership will guide them to help them make an impact in their local communities.

Seasonal Wraps with Delta Phi

On October 30th, Delta Phi held an event where we invited students around campus to come assist our chapter in making blankets to donate to the youth in the Athens community. As we were slowly approaching the winter season our chapter wanted to make sure we were tending to the needs of families in our community. Our sorority focuses on five target areas through our Launching New Dimensions of Service and this particular event hit the nail on the head for our area of Family Strengthening as we met the critical needs of families in our area for the season.

Meet The Greeks

On September 26, 2017, The Ohio University Chapter of The National Pan-Hellenic Council hosted Meet The Greeks. This is an interactive program that gives students the opportunity to meet the members of the Divine Nine organizations on campus and ask questions anonymously through submission. Members, Hannah Britton and Joselyn Hines represented Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorroity, Inc. during the panel discussion. The discussion addresses reasons for joining an organization, requirements and personal experiences with being a member of the Divine Nine at Ohio University. 

 

Delta Phi Backpack Drive

On September 18, 2017, Delta Phi chapter carried out their educational enrichment target by hosting a backpack drive. Students and faculty were encouraged to donate backpacks and school supplies to the children in the Athens school system. With the help of many generous donations, Delta Phi donated multiple bins of school supplies to East Elementary School in Athens, OH.

 

 

Delta Phi at The Multicultural Expo

On August 30, 2017, the Black Student Union and The Black Student Cultural Programming Board at Ohio University host The Multicultural Expo for first-year multicultural students to get acquainted with campus. The women of Delta Phi chapter held an informational table at this event to talk with students and educate them on the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 

First-Year Student Involvement Fair

On August 27, 2017, After the first-year student convocation, Ohio University hosts a student organization involvement fair to showcase the over 400 student organizations on campus. Delta Phi Chapter held a table at this event and had the chance to introduce the members and the organization to many first-year students. 

Delta Phi Welcomes Photosynthe2i2

On April 3, 2017, the Delta Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. welcomed 22 new initiates to the campus of Ohio University - Photosynthe2i2. The ladies put on a campus presentation for over 200 members of their families and friends. Delta Phi Chapter is extremely excited to pass down the legacy of supreme service to this powerful group of young women. Be on the lookout for programs and community service events hosted by the new initiates is the 2017-2018 school year!
